    Photography Notes

Prison Island combines historic buildings, giant Aldabra tortoises and clear tropical waters in a compact island setting just offshore from Stone Town. The former prison buildings, white-sand beaches and coral shoreline provide a varied mix of architectural, wildlife and coastal photography. Morning and late afternoon produce the most attractive light, while calm conditions often create reflections and vivid turquoise colours. The short boat journey also offers excellent views back towards Stone Town and Zanzibar's historic waterfront.
