Best Light
Calm conditions, warm light and still water create the best reflections while wildlife is most active along the riverbanks.
Why This Light
Season
Seasonally Distinct
The dry season concentrates wildlife along the riverbanks as surrounding water sources disappear, creating excellent game-viewing opportunities. During the wet season, higher water levels flood the surrounding plains, transforming the landscape into an expansive network of channels, lakes and wetlands.

Restrictions
The best photography is achieved from guided boat safaris operating within Nyerere National Park, although sections of the river can also be viewed during game drives. Park entry permits and licensed guides are required.
