    Sunset Dam

    Sunset Dam is one of the most famous wildlife-viewing locations in southern Kruger National Park. Situated just a few kilometres east of Lower Sabie, the dam attracts a constant flow of wildlife and birdlife throughout the year. Its easy roadside access, reliable water and open views make it one of the park's most rewarding locations for photography.

    Sunset Dam is a roadside wildlife-viewing location on the H4-1 road near Lower Sabie. Visitors view the dam directly from their vehicles and are not permitted to walk around the shoreline. As with most areas of Kruger National Park outside designated camps, hides and picnic sites, visitors must remain inside their vehicles at all times.

    Photography Notes

    Telephoto lenses are ideal for wildlife and bird photography, while wider lenses can incorporate reflections, dramatic skies and the surrounding landscape. Early morning and late afternoon often provide the best wildlife activity and photographic conditions.
