    Shingwedzi River & Camp

    Landmark

Shingwedzi River & Camp is one of the defining destinations of far northern Kruger National Park. Characterised by broad riverbeds, ancient riverine trees and a remote wilderness atmosphere, the area offers a distinctly different experience from the busier southern regions of the park. The combination of the Shingwedzi River and the historic rest camp creates a destination centred on landscape, wildlife and solitude.

    Photography Notes

Telephoto lenses are useful for wildlife and bird photography along the river corridor, while wide-angle lenses work well for capturing the scale of the riverbed and surrounding woodland. Early morning often provides the best combination of wildlife activity and atmospheric light. The nearby Red Rocks rapids on the Shingwedzi River provide one of northern Kruger's most distinctive landscape photography locations, where red sandstone formations, river pools and wildlife combine to create a unique visual identity for the region.
