    Clifton Beaches

    Beach

Clifton Beaches are a series of four sheltered coves along the Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town. Each beach is separated by large granite boulders that create distinct enclosed shoreline pockets. The composition resolves through curved sand foreground, rock mass framing, and open ocean horizon.

Light works best when low because it defines granite boulder texture and separates shoreline curves from the Atlantic horizon.

    Season

    Weather-Dependent

Beach structure remains consistent year-round, but wind direction and sea state significantly affect surface texture and clarity.

    Photography Notes

Position at the edge of granite boulder clusters to use rock mass as a framing element for the sand and horizon. Small lateral shifts significantly change how coves layer behind one another. Shooting from too elevated a position reduces shoreline curvature and weakens the cove enclosure effect.
