Sunset view of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head from the water off Cape Town, South Africa.
← Back to City Bowl & Table Mountain
Table Mountain is a flat-topped sandstone massif rising directly above Cape Town. The summit plateau extends laterally between steep cliff faces and descending ravines. The composition resolves through horizontal summit line, vertical cliff walls, and coastal-to-city depth layering.

Photography Notes
Edge positions along the plateau provide the strongest vertical drop perspective toward the city bowl and Atlantic coastline. Small shifts along the rim significantly alter coastline curvature and mountain alignment with Lion’s Head and Devil’s Peak. Shooting from too far inland on the plateau reduces cliff-edge drama and weakens depth contrast.
