Unique geological formations rise from the valley floor in Love Valley, a well-known landscape within the Cappadocia region of Turkey.
Love Valley is a broad volcanic valley near Göreme, characterised by tall, narrow rock pillars capped by harder stone formations. The unusual shapes were created as erosion gradually removed the softer volcanic tuff while more resistant layers protected sections beneath them. Clusters of these distinctive pillars rise from an otherwise open valley of pale rock, cultivated fields and eroded slopes. Walking trails cross the valley floor and connect with elevated viewpoints overlooking the formations.

Why This Light
Season
Year-Round Stable
Spring and autumn generally bring mild temperatures and more colour to the vegetation scattered across the valley floor. Winter can cover the formations with snow, while summer is typically hot and dry with stronger contrast across the exposed volcanic terrain.

Love Valley can be viewed from roadside viewpoints or explored along hiking trails through the valley floor. The full walk involves uneven surfaces and some steeper sections, while the principal overlooks require considerably less walking.
