    Photography Notes

Rietvlei is strongest during sunrise and late afternoon when warm light enhances the grassland landscape and wildlife activity is typically at its highest. Telephoto lenses are useful for wildlife photography, while wider lenses work well for photographing open Highveld scenery, wetlands and dramatic summer skies. The reserve's road network allows photographers to explore a variety of habitats without extensive walking.
