Moralana Scenic Drive is an approximately 28 km unsealed route connecting the Hawker–Wilpena Road with the Outback Highway near Parachilna. The road passes through pastoral land and is generally suitable for conventional vehicles in good, dry conditions, although corrugations, loose gravel and creek crossings may require additional clearance. Heavy rainfall can cause temporary closures or make sections impassable. Visitors should remain on public roads, respect private property and check local road conditions before travelling.

    Photography Notes

Use the winding road and dry creek beds as leading lines towards the Elder Range and the western escarpments of Wilpena Pound. Wide lenses capture the open valley and surrounding mountain walls, while longer focal lengths compress successive ridges and isolate folded rock formations. Morning and late-afternoon side lighting strengthens the contours of the ranges and creates alternating bands of light and shadow. Roadside river red gums, grasses and weathered rock provide foreground interest without obscuring the broader landscape.
