The sculpted granite boulders of Remarkable Rocks stand above the Southern Ocean on Kangaroo Island, their weathered curves and hollows illuminated by the soft pink light of sunset beneath a glowing orange sky.
Remarkable Rocks is a group of large, weathered granite boulders perched on a coastal headland within Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Erosion has shaped the rocks into unusual arches, overhangs and sculptural forms, with orange lichen covering many of their surfaces above the Southern Ocean. The distinctive granite formations, coastal setting and contrasting rock textures provide opportunities for landscape, geological and abstract photography.

Seasonally Distinct
Summer brings dry coastal vegetation, warm granite tones and strong contrasts between the orange lichen, pale rock and blue ocean. Winter brings greener surrounding vegetation, more frequent storm clouds and rougher Southern Ocean conditions, while the granite formations retain their distinctive colours and shapes.

Restrictions
Remarkable Rocks is reached by sealed road within Flinders Chase National Park, with parking close to a short walking path leading to the granite formations. A national park entry fee applies. Visitors can walk among some of the boulders, but exposed granite surfaces can be slippery, particularly after rain or sea spray. Strong winds and steep coastal drop-offs require care. Drone use is regulated within the national park and requires appropriate authorisation.
