    Overview

    Switzerland’s geography is structured around three primary landscape systems: the Alps, the Central Plateau, and the Jura Mountains. The Alps form the dominant feature, with high peaks, glacial valleys, and alpine terrain defining much of the southern and central regions. The Central Plateau lies between the Alps and the Jura, consisting of lower elevations, rolling terrain, and major lake systems.
